Veterans Secretary Eric Shinseki Resigns

Eric ShinsekiVeterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki has resigned, President Barack Obama said on Friday.

Embattled Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki announced fixes to the crisis in the VA system on Friday, then met with President Barack Obama to learn if he would stay in his job.

Obama was to make a statement in the White House briefing room soon, the White House announced, less than an hour after Shinseki arrived to discuss preliminary findings about sometimes deadly waits for veterans to get care at VA hospitals and other problems.
