Max Cleland, NVF Honors and Mourns his Passing

Max Cleland

August 24, 1942 – November 9, 2021

The National Veterans Foundation honors Max Cleland and mourns his passing.

There are war heroes and after-the-war heroes. Max Cleland was both. He never stopped serving his country. His passing is particularly difficult for all Vietnam War veterans, as Max represented both the horrors of that war, and the heroism that followed in his life dedicated to public service.

A close personal friend to Shad, Max was an ally to the NVF since before its founding. Max served as a long time member of our Honorary Board.  He and Shad had been friends for over 45 years.

Many will miss him. All who knew him honor his legacy.

Never was there a friend to the NVF such as Max Cleland. Condolences and deep acknowledgement of this loss goes out to Shad.
