National Veterans Foundation Welcomes Nevada Entrepreneur Frank Spady to Board of Directors

Spady was voted onto the NVF Board this month. He is a decorated combat Vietnam veteran who served in the U.S. Army Infantry and as a helicopter door gunner. Spady was a long-time friend of the late Gray Lefevre, former NVF Board Member.

“Gray encouraged me to get involved with the work the NVF is doing for our veterans,” Spady said. “When Gray introduced me to Shad Meshad (NVF Founder & President), I got to see a new level of service to vets. Shad’s Huffington Post blog in November on the number of veteran suicides each day shocked me. It was a real call to action.”

“When I understood that the majority of suicides were by older vets, I knew I had to get involved.  These are my brothers from Vietnam, alongside vets from Desert Storm and Korea in addition to younger vets.”

After a long, successful career in business development and marketing for Fortune 500 companies, Spady founded the Canada Nevada Business Council, promoting bilateral trade.  Now he is eager to give back by raising awareness of the NVF and the issues veterans face.

Spady, also the CEO of the Las Vegas International Press Club, will co-host a weekly radio show on Fridays on KLAV 1230 AM Radio, The Talk of Las Vegas, where he will highlight veterans issues.  The show debuted May 2 at 4:00pm PDT.

“I don’t want Americans to just think about our veterans on Veterans Day and Memorial Day.  I want our veterans to be honored every day.  That’s why it’s so important for us to make people aware of the lasting, personal effects of war. Greater awareness will translate to more resources. We have to reach these men and women at risk while there’s still time.”
