Women Veterans Coordinator, Martha Varela

Originally from Mexico, Varela has 20 years of non-profit work experience working with inner-city communities. An Army Veteran, she was a combat field medic. Martha holds a degree in Social Work, Youth Studies, and Multicultural Studies. She received her MPA from City University New York and completed her graduate research at The California Endowment, California’s largest private health foundation.

The proud mother of two boys and a new grandmother, she enjoys watching her sons play sports which she also loves. “It’s a language I have used to connect with the people I work with,” she says. We’re delighted to have her on our team.
