A native Angeleno, Jackie Hill attended Cal State, Dominguez Hills for her undergrad work. She credits leaders at the university with her choice of social work. “They showed me that I had always been a social worker because of my commitment to service and the empowerment of others. I chose to work with Veterans because of my two older brothers. One served five years with the US Army and was deployed to Afghanistan. The other is currently serving in the Army. He’s served over 10 years and hopes to do 20 years.

Helping Veterans Get Their Benefits

Hill says her favorite part of her internship with the NVF is sharing information about resources and benefits. Many Veterans are not familiar with all that’s out there for them, she adds. “It’s an honor to provide Veterans and their families with relevant information to help improve the quality of their lives.”

Veterans in Her Future

Her goal is to continue to work with Veterans, hopefully in a civilian setting, because often Veterans are not able to access the VA for services. She wants especially to provide care to Veterans who might fall through the cracks.

You wouldn’t guess that she’s a fan of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). “I’ve been a fan of WWE and professional wrestling nearly my entire life.” Maybe that’s where she gets her tenacity. She’s a great addition to the staff.
