WHAT: The 20th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act will be celebrated in Philadelphia’s Independence Park on July 26, 2010 with music, education and speakers. The Liberty Resources Celebration Honoring the 20th Anniversary of the ADA sponsored by The Graham Company will be held from 11:00AM-3:00PM. Liberty Resources, a non-profit and Philadelphia’s Center for Independent Living, will partner with local businesses and non-profits to commemorate this historic achievement.

WHO: The rock band, Flame, consisting of 11 musicians with developmental and physical disabilities, will perform. Recently featured on “Good Morning America,” Flame has earned many accolades and much recognition for their work.

Invited speakers include Estelle Richman U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's Chief Operating Officer and who was previously influential in the disability rights movement in Philadelphia; Steve Gold, a disability rights attorney; Linda Anthony, a disability rights activist and Tom Earle, Liberty Resources’ CEO.

WHY: According to the U. S. Census Bureau, an estimated 49.7 million Americans have a disability, which makes the Americans with Disabilities Act one of the most powerful bills in history.
