Please donate to keep this Veteran family from becoming homeless for Christmas.

This week I have been working with a family in North Dakota.

The husband is a Vietnam Era Vet. He and his spouse are both disabled. They have custody of 2 grandchildren.

They are on the verge of homelessness due to being scammed by some unscrupulous person who wrote them a bad check and then disappeared. They are three months behind on their mortgage, to the tune of $1,900 in total. They are in danger of losing their home in the near future.

The American Legion was able to help them with $250. Another local agency is assisting them with a Christmas tree and presents for the grandchildren, so that they can have some kind of Christmas. We were able to obtain a grocery gift card for them from Feed Our Vets, which will help them put on a Christmas dinner.

At this point I’m reaching out to pretty much everyone to see if we can raise the other $1,650 so they won’t become homeless in the dead of winter. These funds will be paid directly to their mortgage company. If you know anyone who might be able to help with any amount, please share this post/link.

Thanks in advance for your compassion during this holiday season, when so many of our nation’s veterans are struggling.

From the donate page, click the amount you would like to donate and hit “next”. On the next screen, fill out your information and then at the bottom, you will see a link in red that says “Make your donation in honor of someone“. Click that, and in the notes section, write: “North Dakota Veteran“. We will cut a check from NVF directly to their mortgage company.

Any donations received over the $1,650 goal will go to help other Veterans and their families through the NVF’s Veteran Outreach Program.

Sincerely,

Mary Ann Mayer, MSW, ASW
